Dr Michal SCHWARTZ Department of Molecular Genetics Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israël Invited by Franck Halary Title : “A transformative screening approach of virus-host interactions”

Dr. Michal Schwartz is an Associate Staff Scientist in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Weizmann Institute of Science. She earned her Ph.D. from the Hebrew University, where she studied genome instability, and later conducted postdoctoral research at UC San Diego. In 2016, she joined the research group of Prof. Noam Stern-Ginossar at the Weizmann Institute.

Michal specializes in viral infections, with a particular focus on human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). Her research aims to unravel the complex interactions between HCMV and its host, and the molecular mechanisms that drive viral persistence. By integrating high-throughput methodologies with targeted molecular experiments, her work has provided key insights into how viruses manipulate host cells during infection.
