Dr Jessica VAN SETTEN Assistant Professor, Department of Cardiology, University Medical Center, Utrecht Title : “Genetics mechanisms of solid organ transplant outcomes“. Invited by Sophie Limou

Dr.Jessica van Setten is an Assistant Professor at the University Medical Center Utrecht, where she leads a research group focused on statistical genetics to uncover the genetic basis of cardiac diseases. She plays a leading role in the international iGeneTRAiN consortium, where she heads the heart transplant genetics working group, identifying genetic mismatches between donors and recipients that contribute to transplant rejection. Dr. van Setten's expertise lies in developing computational methods and pipelines for large-scale genetic studies, including the LoFTK framework for predicting loss-of-function variants, identifying disease causing knock-out genes. Her work, supported by the Dutch Heart Foundation and EU Horizon funding, combines methodological innovation with translational impact, providing new insights into genetic risk factors for transplant outcomes and cardiac diseases that lead to heart failure.
