Title : “Long-read sequencing for genetic diversity studies in admixed Brazilian populations: applications across forensic and immunogenetic contexts“. Dr Celso TEIXEIRA MENDES JUNIOR Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters at Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo (FFCRLP-USP) Invited by Nicolas Vince

Dr. Celso Teixeira Mendes Junior is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters at Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (FFCLRP-USP) and head of the Forensic and Genomics Research Laboratory. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (1998), master's (2001) and doctoral (2005) degrees in Genetics from USP, and completed postdoctoral training (2007) in Clinical Immunology at FMRP-USP. He joined the FFCLRP-USP faculty in 2008 and obtained his habilitation in Forensic Molecular Biology in 2017. His research focuses on Population Genetics, Human Genetics, and Forensic Genetics, particularly genetic diversity, genomic ancestry, and next-generation sequencing applications. His trajectory began with human population genetics studies on microsatellites, SNPs and HLA genes, later evolving to forensic genetics applications. He has contributed to more than 130 manuscripts and been cited more than 2,500 times.
