SEMINAR ; Dr Antoine LOUVEAU - Neuroimmune interactions at the brain borders

Antoine Louveau, Ph.D. is an assistant Staff in the Neuroscience Department of the Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic, an assistant Professor in the Molecular Medicine Department of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, and an adjunct assistant Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences of Kent University. Dr Louveau, a graduate from the University of Nantes (2010, France) obtained his Ph.D. in Neurosciences (University of Nantes, 2013), before completing his postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia under the supervision of Dr Jonathan Kipnis. He joined the Cleveland Clinic as a faculty in 2019. Dr Louveau’ research is focused on Neuroimmunology, investigating how the meningeal compartment, and its lymphatic system, regulates normal and pathological brain function. Particularly, he first described the presence of a classical and functional lymphatic system in the central nervous system, and went on to demonstrate its central role in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. His lab is currently investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating meningeal lymphatic function and affecting brain function in Autism Spectrum Disorders, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s Disease.
