Dr. Keating trained as a molecular geneticist with a focus on discovering and assessing functional impacts of genomic polymorphisms and biomarkers on human disease. His groups research interests focus on genome-wide association studies (GWAS), whole exome-sequencing, miRNA, mRNA ans proteomic/metabolomics of transplant donor and recipient's genomes, with the aim of using genomic and other biomarkers for the diagnoses and prognostication of post-transplant compilations. He instigated the formation of The International Genetics & Translational Research in Transplantation Network (iGeneTRAIN) for large-scale genomic studies using >50,000 DNA samples and respective phenotype datasets from a number of national and international transplant studies. He leads/co-leads a number of NIH NICHD R01 and U01 grants.
